(note: this is all it says in my notebook. I have no idea why I thought it was scary. I seem to recall eating there, repeatedly, too, and perhaps some fondness for the place. But maybe I’m wrong. I looked it up-- it’s actually Slyman’s Deli-- it’s still there, and it’s a big corned beef place.)

yeah, I've never been there myself, but I can remember you recommending it to me way back when. So I have no idea what you were scared of. Maybe all the Plain Dealer journalists who hung out there?
It was probably the journalists. I have long suffered from a strange and terrible and unexplainable phobia of journalists. Though I met a journalist here in Milwaukee, who was very nice, and that has helped me get over it!
