Steve's Lunch

On Lorain, in the 40’s or 50’s. Cleveland, OH. They specialize in HOT DOGS—as do many places on that part of Lorain—also chili. Small, old, worn, pretty insane—“gastric experience” (from John Phlegm, who recommended it)—"put-you-on-the-toilet- food."

Unfortunately, I guess this place recently raised their prices. But for years and years, they had this great chart up on the wall explaining their hot dog pricing system. Hot Dogs - $1 each.

The chart started out like this:
1 - $1.00
2 - $2.00
3 - $3.00
4 - $4.00..

kept on counting up, continuing on..

31 - $31.00
32 - $32.00
33 - $33.00..

all the way up to..

100 - $100.00

!

I actually once went to a friend's bachellor party there. They parked a car out front with a keg in the trunk, someone brought in a cake with boobs on it, and someone even hired a hooker for the guy, but he ended up paying her to go home! It was pretty amusing..
